On April 17th I raced at Evansville once again. I was super excited for this race because it was my first National race. There were about 11 people in my class. We got to race on the super cross track as well as the usual track. It was fun and easy because I have done that track so many times already. I have also been practicing my turns so I was way more confident with riding. I ended up getting the hole shot in the first race. Then many people went the wrong way so we had to restart. I was behind a slower rider and kept trying to pass her but she kept getting in my way. I started to yell but she just ignored me. Finally I got passed her and was so relieved. I thought I was doing really well; I was in front of some people.

Round 2 of the Northeast Harescramble series was also Round 1 of the ATVA National series. I was eagerly anticipating this race, as the ATVA national courses are always challenging, and the competition is usually pretty tough. I had replaced the bad bearings and gone over the quad with a fine tooth comb, I wasn't going to let a mechanical issue affect me for this race... Or so I thought...
My start wasn't bad, mid-pack out of 11 riders. I quickly settled into a pace behind the other riders getting a feel for the course.. The first fun challenge was a sick hill-climb that we hadn't run before.. I've been practicing some hill climbs on my personal course, and I have to say, they CERTAINLY prepared me for this! I picked my line and passed 4 people in my class on the hill.. At the top I shouted "Oh YEAH!" and with a charge of adrenaline, I pushed forward.

Well, despite putting on a new chain and sprockets, I still had issues at this race.
On the starting line my machine was slow to start, so I was literally the last one off the line. I wasnt familiar with the new sections that they included in the course, and this proved to be an issue.. A little too much speed going off a downhill jump ended in a very uneven landing. Of course, my rear axle bearings did not like this and decided to crap out on me.. By the end of the first lap I had thrown my chain a number of times and noticed the bearings race start to come out of the carrier and decided to call it a day..
Lucky for me, I came in 4th.. Only because there were 4 racers. LOL.. Better luck next time! |

On March 21st I raced at Evansville for the first race of the Northeastern Harescramble Series. I was really excited because I knew there was going to be a lot more people which means a lot more competition. I got dressed and went to the starting line. There were about 7 people in my class. It was a new course and I knew it was going to be a lot of fun. My line went first, so right when the flag went down I just hit the gas and went. I was in about third place when I started. It was a great start. I then noticed that a lot of the course was the same. I was going great until right after the scoring place. I got stuck on the rocks and one kid passed me. I hoped off my quad and pulled it out. Before I knew it I was back on track. I got pretty close with the more experienced group of riders.

Well, this day *generally* went pretty well, the end of my sport race was the only issue.
I had just rebuilt the top end on my YFZ with the help of my buddy Ian, put in a 12.5:1 comp piston, did the cam mod, and WOW, the quad felt awesome. I just couldn't wait to race the YFZ this time. I loaded up the fresh YFZ, my wolvy 350 and the Predator 90 that my niece races in the youth classes. We got on the road around 8:30 and headed west for the final round of the Evansville Mud n Snow Harescramble series.
