Personally, I thought it was an AWESOME course, things ran super smooth, but there were a bunch of whimps who were cutting the course in the open fields. Why bother racing if you cut the course? Go home you lazy azzes! As for the race, my holeshot sucked. She fired right up but when I grabbed a handful of throttle I just spun the tires on the wet grass. I was like 3rd to last going into the woods but I actually prefer to pick off riders rather than trying to stay in front the whole time. The first lap was a few bottlenecks as we spread out, but I loved the long course (~8 miles I was told) and settled into a rhythm. I made up time in my first lap and scanned in 7th I think. Second lap was faster, made a few passes and scanned in 4th, right behind the 3rd place guy. I pass him within the first mile of lap 3, now I know I am in 3rd according to the scans, and I pass 2 more people. NOBODY passes me and on my 3rd lap I am figuring at least a 3rd place position, if not better (I had definately passed 3 people, not sure if the other 2 were in my class) and I scan in 4th AGAIN? I'm like WTF! COURSE CUTTERS!!!! I got on the hammer, but I had alot of ground between me and the next quad ahead of me. I didn't see the other rider until almost the last mile. I was pushing and pushing, managed to catch up to him and just couldn't get a pass in on the last straighaway.. I settled for a 4th in class and 30th overall in the AM race.. Was a GOOD day, saw lots of old friends, had an AWESOME ride and went home happy :) |
