What a great day for me!
My row started with a blackwater style start, 5 quads at a time, and I was in the 2nd grouping. That meant I got to start with my motor running, so when I was given the go, I stabbed the throttle and got the holeshot for my group. The quad felt AWESOME at the track (Thanks go to Fordfreak for helping me with an alignment this week), and it felt like I was on rails. I started passing people in the first "mini lap" and came around to start my first real lap. Well thanks to someone who I wont mention, a barrier was torn down, and on my first real lap I followed the youth course for about 250ft off course. By the time I got turned around and back on track, I had watched like 15 quads pass. Now I had work to do.
I scanned in 3rd place on my first lap and knew I was right behind 2nd. For laps 2 and 3 it was a good battle with Kelley, but I managed to keep the lead from the 2nd lap on. I think on Kelley's 4th lap he got a flat and I started pulling away, increasing my lead. At points I was alone in the woods, and I hate that as I feel I sort of relax a bit. I'd much rather be chasing someone down. Still managed to run a good race, not hook a single tree, and was happy with my performance..
I took 1st in my class and I am DIEING to see my overall. The overall was not posted by the time I left, so I am curious if this is my best overall to date.
The cherry on top though was the awards. They looked like pit plates, but had a picture from last years race there on them.. GE4x4 and me are smack dab in the middle of the picture! I thought it was the coolest thing for me to win a plaque that I was actually pictured on!!!
In the end, a great day!
