Wow.. What a fun race..

I originally planned to go to Evansville for their Mud and Snow scrambles instead of up to Walden, but the day before the event, Evansville postponed their race for a week due to bad weather. I decided to hit Walden at the last minute, my quad was all prepped for Evansville, and I figured why not at least get some race time in..

Well, I show up, pay $30 at the gate and ask where reg is.. The guy says "you just did!" LOL. Ok, so it was pretty informal..

Well, I rolled in about 12:30, and Blizzard (Chris) shows up 5 mins later.. Mojave Magic (Mike) rolls in at almost 1, and they wanted us on the line at 1:15.. Well, I gotta hand it to them, they WERE on time! I decided to run B class today because C was mostly sportsman class machines, or 4x4's.. We all go to the line, get handed a number to stick on our helmet and they started the race.

I do pretty well in the holeshot, going into the first corner 3rd out of around 9 racers I think. I'm feeling pretty good as I left Chris behind me :) The first few turns, and I capitalized on the second place rider making a wrong turn and I am now in second.. Keeping up a pace with the first place rider, I capitalize on a mistake he makes.. (the course was marked "ok", but there were definately questionable areas in the first lap). Well, wouldnt you know it, I end up finally making a wrong turn myself and find myself head on with some barrier tape. Turn around and drop back a few places.

I put the hammer down, and push on.. The quad is feeling good, the cold air is giving her snap like she doesnt get in the summer, and the suspension just felt good.. The new Rath nerf bars and pegs I REALLY liked, had a really positive feel on my feet to the pegs.. The jumps were a blast, the turns were just fun to dive into, and I was having a grand old time till I noticed a cheater.. And blatant.. And I wasnt the only one to notice him (my buddy Chris also saw him cut the course). This cheating lowlife took 3rd and pushed me to 4th, and there was barely even a protest period! I protested him on two of my laps, asked them to note who was riding the white / red raptor, but this guy managed to sneak in, grab his trophy and head out before I could protest! It was snowing, so people wanted to leave, but this guy knew he was a cheater. At one point he was on my tail going into a tight woods section. I normally put alot of ground between us in the woods, but when I came out, all of a sudden he's like 5 turns ahead of me in the open fields! People like that should just buy a trophy to make themselves feel good.. I swear they dont belong on a race course!

In the end, I had a great day.. Met up with some old friends, ran a fun course, and had a good race.. Took 4th in B class too! Pretty good day for sure!
